Essay und Foto Competition
Zum 60 jährigen Bestehen der Europäischen Menschenrechtskonvention (EMRK) veranstaltet der Europarat in Zusammenarbeit mit ELSA International eine Essay und Foto Competition.
Teilnehmer können ein Essay oder einen Foto Report einreichen in dem sie die tägliche Auswirkung der EMRK auf die europäischen MitbürgerInnen zeigen.

ELSA has launched the second edition of the ELSA Essay Competition on Intellectual Property (IP) Law. In an effort to bring IP closer to law students and at the same time remain at the frontline of legal developments, ELSA has selected IP as its theme for the 07-10 International Focus Programme (IFP). ELSA Selected Papers on European Law (ELSA SPEL) provides a compilation of legal papers in the concerning law with European aspects. ELSA SPEL provides an international readership with a source of literature that rarely finds its way to the regular legal periodicals: High quality papers written by students in the scope of their legal courses as well as academics.
ELSA SPEL contributes to legal education as students throughout Europe are offered an incentive to enhance increasingly important academic and language skills. All contributions are approved by the Editorial Board.

Contents
Articles, essays, dissertations and other legal papers concerning law with European aspects are eligible for publication in ELSA SPEL. Contributions concerning the implementation of European Law in national legal orders are also welcome.
Length
Submissions are eligible for publication provided that they fall within the range of minimum 1500 words excluding footnotes.
Footnotes
Footnotes should be numbered consecutively throughout the text with superscript numerals and appear at the end of the text and before the bibliography.
Summary
A brief summary of the article not exceeding 200 words should be submitted together with the article.

References to the EC Treaty should use current numbering without the old numbering unless that is needed to provide for ease of understanding. If reference to the former numbering is needed, it should be given as follows: Article 48 (now 39) E.C. or Article 39 (ex 48) E.C. as appropriate. Cases are cited as follows: Case C-412/93 Leclerc-Siplec [1995] E.C.R. I-179 Case T-504/93 Tiercé Ladbroke v. Commission [1997] E.C.R. II-923 Unreported cases should be cited using the date of judgment. References to the Official Journal are as follows: [2001] O.J. L1/1 or [2001] O.J. C1/1 Otherwise, authors are asked to use the approved form of citation of legal materials common in the country or jurisdiction of the field(s) of law discussed in the article.
Submission
Contributions should be sent to ELSA International, 239 Bvd. General Jacques, 1050 Brussels, Belgium. E-mail: enquiries(at)elsa.org. Contributions shall be in English. If the article has been published before, publishing in SPEL requires consent from both the author and previous publisher. The author's name, qualification, position, institution, address and e-mail address should be included together with a brief personal introduction not exceeding more than 100 words.
File Formats
Contributions will be accepted in data format only. Articles can be sent to ELSA International in any version of Word, RTF or simple text as e-mail attachments. No liability is accepted for loss or damage of materials submitted.
Acknowledgments
The editor will acknowledge submissions as quickly as possible. Contributors should supply an e-mail address which will facilitate communication. As far as possible a definite decision on publication will be given within six weeks of submission. Articles accepted for publication will be published on www.elsa.org directly after being approved by the Editorial Board. A submission which is provisionally accepted subject to suggested amendments by the Editorial Board, will be published where such amendments have been made to the satisfaction of the editor.

Copyright in all contributions accepted for publication remains with the authors, and ELSA International acquires publication rights. Authors are free to re-use their own material but if all or any part of published material is reproduced elsewhere, the author should acknowledge Selected Papers on European Law as the original place of publication.
